SportsSports Body Registration and Governance
We register national and county sports associations and clubs with the Sports Registrar, and advise federations on governance obligations under the Sports Act, Cap 223. This gives a sports organisation a constitution and structure that will hold up to scrutiny, not just a certificate on file.
SportsClub and Athlete Contracts
We draft and negotiate player agreements, coaching contracts, and club agreements for athletes, clubs, and federations across football, athletics, rugby, and other codes. Clear contract terms give every party a framework for resolving disputes before they reach a tribunal.
SportsEmployment and Payroll for Sports Employers
We advise football clubs, athletics camps, and event organisers on the statutory payroll obligations that apply once an arrangement is legally employment, regardless of whether it is labelled a contract, retainer, or appearance fee. This protects clubs from the liability that follows when a relationship's legal character does not match its label.
SportsSports Disputes and Tribunal Representation
We represent athletes, clubs, and officials before the Sports Disputes Tribunal in contractual, disciplinary, eligibility, and governance disputes, and on appeals to the High Court where the Sports Act permits it. This gives a party a structured path to a remedy outside the ordinary court system, and beyond it when needed.
SportsAnti-Doping Compliance
We advise athletes, clubs, and federations on their obligations under Kenya's anti-doping regime and represent them in proceedings before the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya. This helps a client understand that anti-doping violations carry real legal consequences, not only sporting ones.
SportsSponsorship, Merchandising and Image Rights
We structure sponsorship, merchandising, and image rights deals for clubs, federations, and athletes, protecting commercial assets such as a badge, mascot, or an athlete's name and likeness ahead of the statutory right the Sports Bill, 2026 would create. This lets a client monetise its commercial assets on solid contractual footing today, not just once the law catches up.
SportsBetting, Gambling and Match-Fixing Compliance
We advise sports clubs and events on betting sponsorship and advertising rules under the Gambling Control Act, 2025, and on compliance ahead of Kenya's forthcoming match-fixing offence under the Sports (Amendment) Bill, 2026. This keeps a club's commercial relationships with betting sponsors compliant as the regulatory net around sports betting tightens.
SportsAthlete Tax and Cross-Border Matters
We advise athletes and their representatives on the tax treatment of endorsement, appearance, and prize income under the Income Tax Act, Cap 470, and on work permits for foreign athletes and coaches under Kenya's immigration framework. This keeps an athlete's earnings and a club's foreign recruitment both properly documented.
SportsChild Safeguarding for Academies and Clubs
We advise academies, clubs, and federations on the legal obligations that attach to training, boarding, and transporting child athletes. This turns safeguarding from a good-practice recommendation into a compliance programme a sports body can actually stand behind.
SportsBroadcast and Copyright Protection
We advise federations and broadcasters on protecting live sports broadcasts under the Copyright Act, Cap 130, including takedown action against illegal streaming. This gives a rights holder a real legal tool against piracy, not just a policy against it.
SportsClub Licensing
We guide football clubs through the club licensing process that determines eligibility to compete in FKF-organised leagues and CAF continental competition. This keeps a club's administrative eligibility to play as solid as its results on the pitch.
SportsStadium and Venue Compliance
We advise venue operators on stadium licensing and safety standards under Sports Kenya's regulatory mandate, distinct from county building approvals and sports body registration. This helps a venue operator meet a regulatory standard that exists specifically to prevent the kind of incident that turns a stadium into a liability.
